Senate Bill Aims To Boost Development Of FDA-Approved Cannabis Drugs

A bipartisan group of senators, including Sens. Chuck Grassley (R-IA) and Dianne Feinstein (D-CA), has introduced a bill that aims to encourage scientific and medical research on marijuana in part by streamlining development of FDA-approved drugs that use cannabidiol (CBD) and marijuana. Though the legislation aims encourage research and development of potential FDA-approved therapies, it would let researchers sidestep FDA when requesting increases in the amount of marijuana they can use in their research.
