After drawing backlash from family physician lobbyists for reportedly telling CMS staff that artificial intelligence (AI) could eventually replace human doctors, newly confirmed CMS Administrator Mehmet Oz laid out a rather vague policy agenda Thursday (April 10) calling for greater price transparency, getting life-saving treatments to patients more quickly, fighting chronic diseases, modernizing health programs, and curbing waste, fraud and abuse -- all without explicitly mentioning the role AI would play in this vision.
