MedPAC Recommends New MA Benchmarks To Share Plan Savings

Medicare payment advisors voted Thursday (April 1) to recommend Congress replace Medicare Advantage’s benchmark policy with a new system that would share plans’ MA cost efficiencies with the federal government. The recommendations will be included in the advisors June report to Congress. The group recommends replacing the existing benchmark model with one that equally blends local fee-for-service spending with national fee-for-service spending, along with at least a 75% rebate for plans and a 2% discount rate to benchmarks to achieve...
