A device maker, clinical endocrinologists and advocates for diabetics are asking CMS to reverse a policy that a consultant says sets a bad precedent for Medicare coverage of remote patient-monitoring technologies such as telehealth. At issue is a Medicare policy that prohibits beneficiaries from using an FDA-approved mobile app to send results from a glucose-monitoring device to their doctors, families and caregivers.
