Long-stalled legislation requiring Medicare Advantage plans to overhaul their prior authorization processes got a jumpstart Wednesday (June 12) when bipartisan groups of lawmakers in both chambers reintroduced the bill after the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) reduced its price from $16 billion to zero, drawing fanfare from dozens of provider groups that have lobbied to rein in insurers’ coverage hurdles.
