Long-Awaited AHP Rule Redefines ERISA Employer, Sparks Debate

The Trump administration on Thursday (Jan. 4) released a highly anticipated proposed rule that, if finalized, would loosen the definition of an employer under ERISA in a push to encourage creation of association health plans (AHPs) that would now be able to cover employers from various industries, including sole proprietors and their dependents.
