Lab Lobby Pressures FDA To Get FSMA-Mandated Accreditation Program Moving

Consumer groups and private laboratories are waiting with bated breath for FDA to get a Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA)-mandated lab accreditation program, which would certify private laboratories for analyzing food imports, off the ground. In light of missed deadlines by FDA, the independent lab lobby is urging the Trump Administration to pressure FDA to immediately begin using private labs, and suggests creating a pilot program “to identify best practices” and reduce “the angst in the industry over prolonged delays.”...
