Inslee Signs Bill Creating Public Option In Washington

Washington Democratic governor and presidential candidate Jay Inslee on Monday (May 13) signed the nation's first public option law. The legislation, pushed by Inslee and passed through the legislature last month, requires the state’s health agency to contract with one or more issuers to create bronze, silver and gold standardized “Cascade Care” plans that will be sold in the state-run exchange by 2021.
