HHS Rebuffs Hospitals' Ideas For Cutting Appeals Backlog

HHS says the American Hospital Association's suggestions for decreasing the backlog at the third level of Medicare appeals aren't workable, and argues the court shouldn't get involved at this point because the agency's policies are starting to shrink the backlog without any intervention. HHS had advanced a number of policies to reduce the backlog. But the federal DC District Court last month said those proposals are unlikely to eliminate the appeals backlog, so the judge denied HHS' request to delay...
