HHS Exempts Docs From Certain Buprenorphine Prescribing Requirements

HHS is exempting physicians from certain certification requirements needed to prescribe buprenorphine for opioid use disorder, the department announced Thursday (Jan. 14). Physicians who use the exemption will be limited to treating no more than 30 patients with buprenorphine at any one time, unless they’re hospital-based physicians.
