Health Groups Want Congress’ Next Federal Data Privacy Bill To Build Off HIPAA

Health care stakeholders broadly want the House Energy & Commerce Committee’s Privacy Working Group to craft a federal data privacy law that utilizes existing Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) concepts like “covered entities” and “protected health information,” a review of nine comments sent to the group indicated.
