GOP To OIG: Probe States That Put COVID-19 Patients In Nursing Homes

Two Republican committee leaders on Monday (June 29) asked the HHS Office of the Inspector General to investigate whether five states violated federal guidance by asking nursing homes to accept COVID-19 positive patients. Energy & Commerce ranking Republican Greg Walden (OR) and Senate Finance Chair Chuck Grassley (R-IA) point to a Wall Street Journal estimate that 50,000 nursing home deaths can be linked to COVID-19, although CMS says 30,000 have died in nursing homes.
