GAO, Planned Parenthood Say CMS Hasn’t Enforced Medicaid Abortion Coverage

While HHS Secretary Xavier Becerra on Wednesday (May 4) said his department would “double down on our authority to protect” reproductive health care, the Government Accountability Office says CMS hasn’t acted on three-year old recommendations to enforce existing Medicaid abortion coverage requirements in South Dakota or to make sure states are covering Mifeprex, and Planned Parenthood also says it hasn’t seen any actions from CMS enforcing Hyde amendment violations.
