FTC Busts Sham Operation For Misleading Consumers On ACA Coverage

A federal judge has temporarily shut down a Florida-based operation that the Federal Trade Commission charged with misleading consumers into thinking they were purchasing comprehensive, ACA-compliant coverage, rather than skimpy products that left them with unpaid medical claims and thousands in bills. The FTC says Steven Dorfman, who owns Simple Health Plans LLC and four other related entities, including one called Health Benefits One, collected about $100 million in insurance premiums for the substandard plans before the operation was shuttered...
