FDA: Increased Demand For Amoxicillin Caused Reported Shortages

FDA has listed the liquid form of amoxicillin, an antibiotic often administered to children, on its drug shortage database, citing increased demand as the reason for the drug’s low supply while Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) cases and hospitalizations surge this fall. As of Tuesday, (Nov. 1), FDA listed “increased demand” as the reason for shortages at Aurobindo, Hikma Pharmaceuticals and Teva Pharmaceuticals.
