FDA and the Justice Department have asked federal district courts to step in and force six e-cigarette companies to stop manufacturing, selling and distributing their e-cigarettes, marking the first time FDA has initiated court action to enforce the Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act’s premarket review requirements for new tobacco products, the agency announced Tuesday (Oct. 18).
