FDA, DOJ Push Back In Case That Seeks To Rescind Abortion Pill Approval

FDA and the Justice Department are pushing back on a first-of-its-kind lawsuit that seeks to scrap FDA’s approval of the abortion pill mifepristone. The agencies on Wednesday (Jan. 18) filed an opposition statement with a Texas court, arguing that withdrawing approval of mifepristone would cause worse health outcomes for patients who rely on mifepristone to safely and effectively terminate their pregnancies and interfere with Congress’ decision to entrust FDA with responsibility to ensure the safety and efficacy of drugs.
