Expert: Hahn’s GOP Ties May Boost Him Over Sharpless To Be FDA Chief

After health organizations and former FDA heads, including former FDA chief Scott Gottlieb, urged the White House to tap Acting FDA Commissioner Ned Sharpless as the permanent FDA chief, another contender for the role appeared: Stephen Hahn, chief medical executive of MD Anderson’s Cancer Center. Hahn, who reportedly was interviewed by the president and is a GOP donor, lacks Washington experience but doesn’t seem to be raising red flags among some who backed Sharpless.
