FDA can and should take several steps to cut back on medical product waste and promote reuse of certain materials, including by removing certain registration requirements and time limits on products made by hospital compounding pharmacies, eliminating use-by dates on drugs and devices, and requiring manufacturers to disclose product-level carbon emissions, an environmental health expert told lawmakers.
