Employers Want System That Verifies Worker Eligibility On Front-End

Stakeholders are again urging Congress to create a mechanism allowing employers to tell the health insurance exchanges that their businesses offer ACA-compliant coverage in advance of the annual open enrollment period instead of submitting the information to the IRS after the fact. A prospective reporting system would prevent worker confusion over whether the employer plan meets the law’s affordability and actuarial minimums, and also would lessen the burden for employers, say supporters of bipartisan legislation to set up the pathway...
