Dems Reject GOP Bid To Target Where FDA Spends COVID-19 Funds

House Energy & Commerce Committee Democrats struck down Republicans’ attempt to direct FDA to use $100 million, of the $500 million allocated to the agency in E&C’s COVID-19 relief proposal, to review novel and repurposed therapies for COVID-19. Democrats agreed FDA should work to get more COVID-19 therapies to market, but they argued the agency needs flexibility to use funding where it’s needed most.
