Dem Health Leaders Ask HHS To Create SEP For End Of COBRA Subsidies

The Democratic leaders of congressional health care committees are asking HHS to make sure consumers that receive the six months of fully subsidized COBRA coverage available under the American Rescue Plan can enroll in an Affordable Care Act plan once the COBRA benefits end. Without a special enrollment period (SEP), those consumers would have to either pay the full cost of COBRA or possibly go uninsured for three months until the open enrollment period starts Nov. 1.
