Colorado To Seek Reinsurance Waiver That Would Start In 2019

Colorado has jumpstarted its effort to get a reinsurance waiver approved and implemented by 2019 even as officials find CMS’ lack of responsiveness to Oklahoma’s 1332 application “disconcerting,” according to a stakeholder involved in the discussions. The waiver would resemble Minnesota’s proposal, with an invisible reinsurance mechanism to kick in for high claims only -- instead of segmenting out people with preexisting conditions.
