CMS Will Not Update Hospital Compare Star Ratings In October

CMS says it will not update the overall Hospital Quality Star Ratings in October, as previously scheduled, while it reevaluates aspects of the controversial methodology and combs through stakeholder feedback. Comments on the potential changes were due Sept. 27, and hospitals have repeatedly pushed the agency to redo the star ratings or, at a minimum, remove the ratings from Hospital Compare until experts agree the ratings are calculated correctly.
