CMS Will End ICD-10 Coding Flexibility Oct. 1

CMS says the ICD-10 coding flexibility that the agency and the American Medical Association worked out last year to keep it from denying doctors' payments if they didn't use a specific enough ICD-10 code will end Oct. 1 as planned. The agency says this shouldn't pose a problem for providers and noted that a recent survey found providers made the switch to the new code set last year with “essentially no adverse effects on coding accuracy.” After pressure from doctors...
