CMS Ups Medicare Payments To Labs That Use Rapid COVID-19 Tests

CMS on Wednesday (April 15) said it will nearly double payments for certain labs that use rapid-diagnosing tests for COVID-19. Medicare will pay $100 for clinical diagnostic lab tests that use high-throughput technologies developed by the private sector to increase testing capacity. CMS says this new technology can process more than 200 specimens a day, but specifically trained technicians and time-intensive processes are required.
