CMS Streamlines 1115 Fast-Track Process, Allows For 10-Year Extensions

CMS on Monday (Nov. 6) outlined new guidelines for 1115 Medicaid waiver approvals and monitoring programs, including provisions to let states make changes to their Medicaid programs more quickly and replicate changes other states have made, while also reducing CMS' monitoring of new programs. The guidance also says that, where possible, CMS may approve extensions of routine, successful “non-complex” 1115 waivers for up to 10 years.
