CMS Releases Long-Awaited Medicaid Work Requirement Guidance

CMS released a long-awaited guidance to counsel states on how to implement and evaluate 1115 waivers in Medicaid , particularly work-requirement programs, including an implementation template, a monitoring report template and evaluation design guidance on Thursday (March 14). CMS offers hypotheses states could pose when applying for a waiver, such as: “Medicaid beneficiaries subject to community engagement requirements will have higher employment levels, including work in subsidized, unsubsidized, or self-employed settings, than Medicaid beneficiaries not subject to the requirements.” The...
