CMS Proposes Easing MA Network Adequacy Standards For Rural Areas

CMS on Wednesday (Feb. 5) proposed to loosen network adequacy requirements for Medicare Advantage plans in rural areas and offered further flexibility for plans if they provide telehealth in 2021 to ease rural beneficiaries' access to specialty providers. MA plans offering telehealth must ensure a certain percentage of beneficiaries reside within the standard limits on travel time and distance from a provider in order to meet network adequacy requirements.
