CMS IPPS Rule Aims To Help Small Hospitals Maintain Buffer Stocks

CMS has finalized a new payment system under the Inpatient Prospective Payment System (IPPS) rule for fiscal year 2025, designed to help small independent and rural hospitals maintain a six-month buffer stock of essential medicines and prevent future drug shortages.
