CMS Extends Deadline For MIPS Reweighting

CMS is allowing providers to submit a request for reweighting one or more 2023 payment year (PY) Merit-Based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) performance categories under a hardship exemption from now through Oct. 11 due to the Change Healthcare cyberattack, the agency said in a mail to its Quality Payment Program listserv this week, a move a health care consultant says gives physicians even more of a reason to not participate in the program.
