CMS Advises States On Medicaid Coverage Of Incarcerated Youth

Incarceration status is not a reason to violate the new 12-month continuous coverage protections for children, CMS reminded states in its new guidance on how states can comply by Jan. 1, 2025, with the new rights Congress passed for youth involved in the correctional system – including covering and screening the juveniles’ health needs within 30 days of their release.
