CBO Says It Overestimated Health Spending For 2010-2020

The Congressional Budget Office said Friday it overestimated Medicare and Medicaid spending in its 2010-2020 projections by about 9%, coming as HHS Secretary Xavier Becerra prepares to testify before the Senate Finance and Appropriations Committees Wednesday (March 22) on President Joe Biden’s fiscal 2024 budget, which includes a tax-based plan to extend the Medicare trust fund by an extra 25 years.
