CBO: 16M Uninsured If Reconciliation Bill Enacted, Enhanced APTCs Axed

The Congressional Budget Office says 10.9 million people would be uninsured if the One Big Beautiful Bill (H.R. 1) passed by the House is enacted, in addition to the 5.1 million set to lose coverage due to policies in CMS’ proposed 2026 marketplace rule and the Dec. 31 expiration of the enhanced Affordable Care Act credits -- findings beneficiary advocates and Democratic lawmakers quickly jumped on as proof Republicans hope to save billions by cutting back health care.
