CA Governor Vetoes Bill That Would Have Limited Dialysis Pay

In a win for the dialysis industry, California Gov. Jerry Brown (D) on Sunday (Sept. 30) vetoed legislation (SB 1156) that would have limited dialysis pay in commercial insurance to Medicare levels for patients who receive premium assistance from industry-funded charities. Brown, in his veto message, said while the bill attempted to limit the "questionable practice" of financially interested entities providing premium assistance to patients, it went “too far.” He suggested the state senate pursue a fix that is narrower...
