California has reached a $2.1 million settlement against a non-profit company that claimed to be a health sharing ministry (HCSM), and which allegedly created and sold “sham’ insurance products through its for-profit vendor in violation of state law. Alliance for Shared Health (ASH) and the Shared Health Alliance (SHA) also settled allegations that they had deceptively advertised the products by claiming the plans were standard insurance that comply with the Affordable Care Act.
