Amended Obesity Treatment Bill Heading To Markup Thursday

The House Ways & Means Committee will mark up a long-awaited obesity bill allowing Medicare coverage of weight-loss drugs for certain patients and expanding coverage of intensive behavioral therapy Thursday (June 27). An amended version set to be introduced as a substitute would differ from the original, providing Medicare coverage of obesity drugs only to those already taking the medications and directing HHS to review the national coverage determination of intensive behavioral therapy for obesity.
