AMA Says Raising Minimum Wage Would Improve Health Outcomes

The American Medical Association adopted a new policy on Monday (June 13) affirming the correlation between poverty and poor health outcomes and doubled down on its push to raise the minimum wage to keep pace with inflation. The current minimum wage, $7.25 per hour, translates to slightly over $15,000 a year if a worker’s schedule is 40 hours a week for all 52 weeks in a year.
