The Biden administration says insurers must reimburse consumers for up to eight over-the-counter COVID-19 tests purchased per month without a provider order starting Jan. 15, but in highly anticipated guidance out Monday (Jan. 10) also encourages insurers to set up a process to directly send tests to consumers or cover the costs up front through their pharmacy networks.
