ACOs Saved $1.19B In 2019, CMS Says, Touting Revamped Program

CMS on Monday (Sept. 14) announced that accountable care organizations generated $1.19 billion in total net savings to Medicare in 2019, which the agency said proves the success of its revamped ACO program. In July 2019, CMS kicked-off its revamped accountable care organization program, called Pathways to Success, which allowed ACOs to take on more risk more quickly.
