2021 Budget Proposal Voids IMD Restriction, Funds Mental Health Clinics

The Trump administration’s proposed 2021 budget unveiled Monday (Feb. 10) would exempt qualified residential treatment programs from a restriction that prevents Medicaid from paying for inpatient stays in certain large facilities. The budget also would give states flexibility in using grant money to tackle drug misuse and would extend the community mental health clinics demonstration in eight states through 2021.
