Vermont stopped enforcing its controversial GE food labeling law and key food industry groups dropped their case against the state requirements in light of the new federal law that preempts the state law. The food industry groups said they dropped their suit over the state's controversial genetically engineered food labeling law because the new federal law that requires on-product labeling in one of three forms -- text, symbol or electronic or digital link -- preempts the state requirements.
