Senate Health Committee To Hold Health IT, Biosimilar Implementation Hearings

As Congress comes back into session, the Senate health committee will hold hearings this month on two hot-button issues: improving care through patient access to their records, and a progress report from FDA on biosimilar implementation. The announcement of the health IT hearing on Sept. 16 comes after a HHS Office of Civil Rights official said last week that it is working on new guidance on patients' right to access data under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act.
