BIO, PhRMA Slam Warren's Bill Fining Industry To Boost NIH Funding

Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) introduced her promised bill to divert money from pharmaceutical companies to boost NIH funding, drawing fire from pharmaceutical groups who maintained the measure would result in fewer medicines and “lost jobs.” Warren's bill would require pharmaceutical companies that enter into settlement agreements with the government to avoid a trial for violating federal anti-fraud laws to pay a portion of their profits to help fund research at NIH and FDA.
