AMA Announces New RUC, CPT Editorial Panel Chairs

The American Medical Association appointed two new chairs for the Relative Value Scale Update Committee (RUC) and the Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) editorial panel Friday (April 17). Peter Smith, a professor and chief of cardiothoracic surgery at Duke University, has been chosen by the AMA Board of Trustees to chair the RUC. The RUC includes 31 physicians and 300 medical advisers that make recommendations to CMS that factor into agency decisions on what physicians are paid for various medical procedures...
