Advocates Urge HHS To Enforce Out-Of-Pocket Maximum Policy

A coalition of patient advocates on Thursday (April 30) urged HHS Secretary Sylvia Burwell to enforce a policy finalized in recent regulations clarifying that plans cannot charge a consumer enrolled in a family plan more than the yearly out-of-pocket (OOP) maximum for an individual. The letter comes as insurers are in the midst of submitting their applications to participate in the federally facilitated marketplace (FFM) in 2016.
