RWJF: $36 Billion In Lost Subsidies In 2016 If Government Loses ‘Halbig’

If the U.S. Court of Appeals for the DC Circuit rules against the Obama administration in Halbig v. Burwell , the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation says, the result would be a loss of roughly $36 billion in federal subsidies in 2016 because residents of federally facilitated exchange states would no longer be able to get premium tax credits to afford their insurance.
