The president's 2016 budget will include $1.2 billion for combating and preventing antibiotic resistance, according to a fact sheet circulated Tuesday (Jan. 27), nearly doubling federal funding in this area, with $47 million set aside for FDA evaluation of new antibacterial drugs for patient treatments and antibiotic stewardship in animal agriculture.
