GOP Fears Standard Plan Criteria Will Stifle HSAs, CRS Says Unclear

Senate Republicans are criticizing CMS for its decision to make standardized plans available on Healthcare.gov because the standard requirements could disqualify the sale of health savings account-eligible plans. However, the Congressional Research Service report quoted by the senators in a recent letter points out that HHS is not blocking non-standardized plans from being sold on the federal exchange, so it's hard to tell how the new regulation will affect HSAs.
