Pitts Raises Scaled Back 340B, Income-Adjusted Premiums, Combined Deductibles, Medigap Reform At E&C Hearing

A key House chairman asked Tuesday (Dec. 9) whether scaling back the 340B drug discount program could help pay for speeding drug and medical device development. Energy & Commerce health subcommittee Chair Joe Pitts (R-PA) also asked whether raising Medicare premiums for wealthy seniors, combining deductibles for Medicare Parts A and B, and limiting first first-dollar Medigap coverage, combined with setting a catastrophic out-of-pocket cap, would save beneficiaries money.
